Ailish Hawkins, a senior, and sophomore Tiffany Sax helped Newbury Park place second behind Los Altos by an 80-93 margin in the Division 2 girls final at the CIF State Cross Country Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno. Hawkins covered the 5-kilometer layout in 17:48.1 and Sax clocked 18:01.3 to help Newbury Park earn runner-up honors for the second straight season after finishing second in Division 1 last year following a Division 2 state crown in 2019.
