Newbury Park Athletic Club coach Sean Brosnan, representing Newbury Park High, recaps his boys team winning the high school championship race in addition to capturing the title in the combined results of the boys open division races at the XC Town USA Meet of Champions, presented by The Garrett Companies. Newbury Park had five scorers in the top 35 and all seven athletes place in the top 50 in the championship race to prevail by a 32-97 margin over Stumptown Running TC, representing Jesuit High in Oregon, with four more scorers in the top 45 overall from merged performances of the blue and white varsity open races to secure an 83-90 victory over Lyons-La Grange TC from Illinois. Newbury Park had a team total of 77:57 on the 5-kilometer course, averaging 15:35.5 per athlete in the championship race, despite consistent wind gusts of 30 mph.
