AGOURA – Newbury Park looked primed for another memorable postseason run in California, showcasing its complete lineup for the first time in 25 days with a dominant performance at the Marmonte League championship meet Thursday at Agoura High.

Leo Young, a Stanford-bound senior, eclipsed the 3-mile course record, helping the Panthers sweep the top six spots to produce a perfect score of 15 points and capture a sixth consecutive league title.

Young clocked 14 minutes, 50.87 seconds to take down the 2006 mark of 14:51.66 established by Michael Cybulski of Royal High.

Aaron Sahlman and fellow senior Lex Young, also a Stanford signee, were both timed in 14:51.08 to give Newbury Park the top three performances ever achieved at Agoura.

Brayden Seymour, a senior transfer from Hagerty High in Florida who has committed to Furman, finished fourth in 14:55.66 in his Marmonte finals debut, becoming the sixth athlete to produce a sub-15 effort all-time at Agoura.

Junior Dev Doshi clocked 15:15.59 and senior Aaron Cantu ran 15:20.60 to secure sixth for the Panthers, who last competed with the same lineup Oct. 8 at the 43rd ASICS Clovis Invitational at Woodward Park in Fresno, also the site of the Nov. 26 state championship meet.

Thousand Oaks edged Oaks Christian by a 78-79 margin for second overall, with Agoura placing fourth at 84 points and Westlake finishing fifth with 93 points, led by senior KC Barber earning seventh in 15:29.02. Calabasas secured sixth with 161 points.

Payton Godsey, a junior at Oaks Christian, prevailed in the girls championship race in 16:43.07, elevating to the No. 2 all-time female competitor with the third-fastest performance achieved at Agoura.

Simi Valley graduate Sarah Baxter clocked 16:22.92 in 2013 and ran 16:37.58 in 2012, but Godsey became only the second female athlete to produce a sub-17 effort at Agoura.

Godsey helped Oaks Christian place five scorers in the top 12, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Newbury Park having five athletes among the first nine finishers, as the Panthers repeated as champions by a 26-30 margin.

Ailish Hawkins, a senior, and sophomore Tiffany Sax were both timed in 17:33.27 for Newbury Park, with freshman Sophia Grant placing fifth in 18:06.08, Danielle Brotcke taking seventh in 18:19.08 and fellow junior Nora Lehto grabbing ninth in 18:45.95.

Sarah Colebrooke, a senior, finished fourth in 18:01.43 for Oaks Christian, which had junior Grace Geyer secure sixth in 18:11.69, freshman Delaney Napierala earn eighth in 18:40.43 and sophomore Elizabeth Walker place 12th in 18:55.19.

Westlake was third with 91 points, with Agoura finishing fourth at 108 points and Thousand Oaks taking fifth in 115 points.

The CIF Southern Section prelims are scheduled for Nov. 11 and 12 at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.
