Leo Young and Lex Young Choose StanfordPublished by
Newbury Park CA Twins Announce College Decision By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Leo Young and Lex Young had a lot of options for college. Would they follow their older brother, Nico, and recent teammate, Colin Sahlman, to Northern Arizona? Would they stick with their coach, Sean Brosnan, and pick UCLA? The twins, who were part of the greatest high school cross country team in U.S. history in 2021 and are individually among the best runners in the country, said Sunday that they have chosen Stanford. "I am thrilled with this decision, the process of picking a school began over a year ago, and has been great," Leo Young wrote in his Instagram post. "I’ve looked at and considered many schools, but at the end of the day Stanford is the best fit for me." Leo Young ran 4:00.77 for the full mile at the Azusa Distance Meet of Champions in March. Lex Young ran a best mile of 4:01.52 in May at the RunningLane Track Championships and 13:43.95 for 5,000 meters at the Sound Running Track Meet. They both finished in the top three, with Sahlman, at the RunningLane Cross Country Championships last December, both running under 14:05 for 5 kilometers. More news
