Newbury Park junior Nico Young won the Division 2 boys state title, covering the 5-kilometer course in 14:59.2 at Woodward Park in Fresno, Calif. Young became the first Newbury Park male athlete since Jeff Wilson won back-to-back Division 3 crowns in 1990-91 to capture an individual championship, leading Newbury Park to a 77-90 victory over La Costa Canyon.
