Newbury Park CA junior Nico Young won the Division 2 boys title at the CIF Southern Section Championships at the Riverside Course in Riverside, Calif. Young ran the fastest 3-mile time of the meet, clocking 14:24.2, breaking the course record of 14:25.1 set Oct. 13 by Rubidoux CA senior Kevin Ramos. Young, who became Newbury Park's first individual champion since 1991, led the Panthers to a 51-104 victory over defending-champion Claremont.
